A Study on the Motherhood Experience of Women with Mental Disorders -Phenomenological Research-

Abstract

|
The purpose of this study has focused on deeply understanding their voice in the perspective of motherhood experience of women with mental disorders. For achieving this the Giorgi analysis of phenomenological research was applied. The participants were 6 mothers with schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder. An in-depth interview was held individually with question of "how is the essence of motherhood experience of women with mental disorders and meaning of it?". The data collection was from July of 2006 to February of 2007. The study has derived 7 structure factor including 19 sub-categories about motherhood experience that described by interview and made up free-imaginative variation. According to wholistic context, it and derived and examined meaning of its subordinate themes that are found as the research was following. , , , , , , Based on these results, this study can be offered a good understanding about its character and need. Also, this study could be helped specific intervention strategy in order to empower through strength perspective.
